MiKa-Quartier Dresden
  • One of the largest housing projects in Saxony kicks off
  • 180 new rental apartments for Dresden in the first construction phase
  • Ground-breaking ceremony to take place in spring 2017

Dresden/Berlin 13 December 2016. In spring 2017, the diggers will get to work in the MiKa-Quartier in Dresden. In the initial stage, 180 apartments with a total living area of approximately 14,800 square metres will be built. This first construction phase will kick off the development of an entire new ensemble of buildings in the city. Over the next six years, up to 900 apartments will be constructed on the total of three building lots of the MiKa-Quartier between Pieschener Straße, Brockwitzer Straße and Flößerstraße. The large-scale development is being implemented as a partnership model between Townscape One and the company Sassenscheidt GmbH & Co KG.

Philipp Grabianowski, partner of the Townscape One Group and project manager of the MiKa project, reports, ‘It’s finally getting started. We are proud to be helping to shape one of the largest housing projects in the entire state of Saxony. We will be investing a total of approximately 200 million euros in the development of the quarter.’

The three 5-storey buildings containing apartments with one to four rooms that are now being constructed will offer space for singles, couples, students and families of all ages in living areas of between 35 and 130 square metres. ‘Even during the planning stage, we focused on ensuring a good mix of residents – we place high value on a family-friendly environment that harmoniously expands Mickten as an established city district. This forms an integral part of our sustainability principle’, explains Franziska Ilbring, spokeswoman of the company MiKa-Quartier GmbH & Co. KG, which is realising the project as the owner of the development. Each apartment will feature a balcony or terrace and energy-efficient facilities that comply with the KfW 55 standard. The buildings will also offer underground parking spaces.

Construction work on the 180 rental apartments in the first construction phase between Brockwitzer Straße and An der Elbaue is expected to take 18 months, meaning that the first residents will be able to move into their new homes in autumn 2018. ‘The second construction phase in the first building lot should quickly follow the first. The preparations for this next phase are currently underway in cooperation with the municipal authorities’, adds Ilbring. Once the construction work on the first lot has been completed, the new playground at the heart of the development will also be opened to visitors.
