  • The real estate developer Townscape One sells the development to Gewobag as a forward deal
  • A living area of 3,200 square metres is being developed

Berlin, 30 November 2016: At Chamissostraße 16–18 in the Berlin district of Spandau, the real estate developer Townscape One is constructing 61 rental apartments that offer a total living area of around 3,200 square metres. Townscape One has already sold the development to the housing society Gewobag as part of a forward deal. The company Jebens Mensching Hamburg advised on the transaction.

‘After our successful project “Schokostücke” in the Alt-Hohenschönhausen area of Berlin, which we sold to the housing society HOWOGE in 2013 before the start of construction, we have yet again been able to attract a municipal housing society as the buyer of our development’, explains Henrik Sassenscheidt, managing partner of the Townscape One Group.

The Gewobag Board members Snezana Michaelis and Markus Terboven are delighted with the new addition to Gewobag’s portfolio of apartments in Spandau: ‘We have an ambitious growth strategy and will expand our portfolio by adding 14,500 apartments over the next ten years. Real estate developers play an important role in helping us to achieve our objectives as our partners.’

Construction work on the plot covering around 1,900 square metres will begin in the fourth quarter of 2016. Plans are in place for the building to be completed by the first quarter of 2018. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The architecture firm Elwardt & Lattermann Architekten was again responsible for the planning of the development. The rental apartments are being constructed in compliance with the KfW 55 energy-efficiency standard and are above all designed to attract young families. The plot is situated in close proximity to the Maselakebucht lake and Maselake Park by the river Havel and thus offers a wide variety of leisure and recreational activities.
