Berlin, 10 December 2018: The real estate developer Townscape has handed over 64 rental apartments at Chamissostraße 16–18 in the Berlin district of Spandau to Gewobag. The project was sold to Gewobag, the municipal housing company in Berlin, by Townscape within the scope of a turnkey project purchase at the end of 2016.
‘We are pleased to now be able to hand over these fully completed rental apartments with high-quality designs and attractive floor plans’, states Henrik Sassenscheidt, managing partner of Townscape. ‘This is another example of successful cooperation between Townscape and a municipal housing company. Within this framework, several hundred affordable rental apartments have already been created for Berlin’, continues Sassenscheidt.
The Gewobag Board member Markus Terboven adds, ‘We would like to thank Townscape and everyone involved in the project who have spent the last two years constructing this attractive building, which harmoniously fits into its surroundings in terms of urban development. We are pleased to be able to offer more affordable living space for our core district of Spandau. 30 per cent of the apartments will be available for subsidised rent (from €6.50/m2).’
The architecture firm ioo Elwardt & Lattermann Gesellschaft von Architekten mbH was responsible for the planning of the five-storey residential buildings. The rental apartments were constructed in compliance with the KfW 55 energy-efficiency standard. The plot is situated in close proximity to the Maselakebucht lake and Maselake Park by the river Havel and offers a wide variety of leisure and recreational activities thanks to its favourable location.
