Berlin, 23 February 2018: On Thursday, the real estate developer Townscape held a topping-out ceremony for the new office development GROW in Berlin’s Mitte district. Space for offices, cafés, restaurants and event areas will be created in an area covering approx. 9,300 square metres by the third quarter of 2018.

The plot at Scheringstraße 1 is situated on the border between the Mitte and Wedding districts, in the Brunnenviertel neighbourhood. Townscape acquired a partially developed plot measuring 9,230 square metres together with a Swiss family office back in 2015. The GROW project is now being constructed on a section of the plot covering 1,200 square metres. The building will contain five office floors plus space for event areas, cafés and restaurants on the ground floor. Construction work on the building started in the first quarter of 2017. Townscape is covering all of the project development activities itself.

This location looks back on a long industrial history. GROW is situated in close proximity to the attractive brick building of the former AEG production facilities, which now houses companies from the world of media and other sectors. The area also still boasts excellent transport connections and is therefore a highly sought-after location. The Humboldthain Technology Park is one of the strongest growing commercial locations in Berlin’s Mitte district.

Henrik Sassenscheidt, managing partner of Townscape, reports, ‘We are pleased to have already leased our entire development in Scheringstraße other than the space on the ground floor. This also provides an extra boost for our neighbouring construction project on the corner of Ackerstraße and Max-Urich-Straße, where further office areas under the name ‘ENTER’ will be developed from the second quarter of 2018. Given the rapid development of the plots in the Humboldthain Technology Park, we can safely say that we have chosen the right location.’

The new office development GROW is based on plans by the Berlin-based architecture firm Elwardt & Lattermann. Completion of the project is scheduled for the third quarter of 2018, and the first tenants can probably move into their new premises from July.
